VNPTAD Calculators publishes free calculators for the money questions that come up in ordinary life: what a salary actually pays after tax, what an extra payment does to a loan, what a savings plan is worth in twenty years, what a week of overtime is owed.

Why another calculator site

Most of the existing ones ask for an email address, bury the answer under a lead capture form, or produce a single number with no explanation of how it was reached. An estimate you cannot audit is not much use. Every tool here shows its working, lists what it does not account for, and links to the official source its figures come from.

How the calculators are built

• Nothing is uploaded. The maths runs in your browser. Your figures never reach a server, so there is nothing for us to store, leak or sell.
• Sources are cited. Federal figures come from the IRS and the Social Security Administration. State figures come from each state's revenue department, linked on the relevant page.
• Assumptions are stated. Each page lists what the tool ignores. For a paycheck that means local income taxes, state disability premiums, tax credits and supplemental withholding on bonuses.
• Tax data is reviewed annually. The IRS publishes the following year's inflation adjustments each autumn. Figures are updated then, and the tax year is shown on every page that depends on it.

How the site is funded

Advertising, and nothing else. There is no premium tier, no affiliate arrangement with lenders or brokers, and no sponsored placement. No advertiser has any influence over what the calculators say — which matters, because ad networks in personal finance are full of parties with an interest in the answer.
